MEET IVORY
Ivory Mitchell serves as the executive director of Berkeley County First Steps. A North Charleston, SC native, Ivory earned her bachelor's degree in social work from Limestone College. Ivory has worked with Berkeley County First Steps since 2019, including serving as our director of programs from 2021 to early 2024. Ivory's professional life has been dedicated to serving children and families across the tri-county area. Prior to her current role, she was the quality enhancement coordinator at Dorchester County First Steps, enhancing program quality and building relationships with childcare program directors. Additionally, she held the position of regional assistant supervisor at the South Carolina Department of Social Services, overseeing the enforcement of childcare provider regulations and boosting operational efficiency. In her free time, Ivory volunteers as a doula for postpartum mothers and champions healthy maternal health outcomes. Her longstanding commitment and proven track record in the non-profit and public service sectors are a testament to her continued impact on the education and welfare of children and families in Berkeley County. |
