Parents As Teachers

( Because parents are a child's first and most important teacher )

Parents As Teachers is a program serving expecting families and families with children ages 0 to 5 at no cost to them. Our mission is to provide the information, support, and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.

How it works

BEST PRACTICES IN PARENTING & EARLY CHILDHOOD HEALTH

For expecting parents and families with children ages 0 to 5, our Parents As Teachers program provides regular personal visits from a parent educator and group connections with other families with young children. We also arrange children's screenings and assessments to help identify any developmental concerns, and then connect families to outside resources they may need.

See a 20-second video a grandparent recorded detailing her experiences with the program, and how other parents feel about Parents As Teachers!

SPOTLIGHT

Home visits

Using a relationship-based approach, we customize learning experiences for each family and child. Personal visits with our certified parent educators average one hour for each child under age 5 in the home. Each visit focuses on parent-child interaction, child development, and family well-being, and is arranged according to the family's schedule.
