QE
( Quality Enhancement for child care centers & preschools )
With our QE program, our experts in licensing, health, safety, and social & emotional learning provide on-site technical assistance to directors and staff of child care centers and preschools, assisting them with health and safety and providing them and the children they serve with social & emotional support inside and outside the classroom.
We also arrange and conduct assessments and provide customized quality enhancement plans, and provide education on inclusion. |

FAQs for parents
Q ☼ I just moved to Berkeley County. Can you help me find child care?
A ☼ Yes! We recommend visiting www.scchildcare.org to see child care centers located near your home or workplace. You'll also be able to find their contact information, enabling you to ask whether they have any openings. Q ☼ What is an ABC voucher for child care?
A ☼ An ABC voucher is an income-based scholarship for parents to use in ABC child care centers. You can see if you quality for one at the South Carolina DSS portal by filling out its scholarship application. Q ☼ Who gives child care centers their ABC ratings?
A ☼ ABC ratings come directly from South Carolina's DSS (Department of Social Services) ABC Quality program. "While licensing sets standards for health and safety, ABC Quality is voluntary for child care providers and promotes excellence in meeting the total needs of children," writes DSS. Q ☼ A hospital told me to reach out to you to find early intervention support for my child. What is the best way to find this support?
A ☼ If your child is under 3 years old, you can request a referral at BabyNet to find out what support is available and receive screening information. If your child is over 3 years old, you can request a screening from your pediatrician or child care provider, and then contact your school district to receive early intervention support. Q ☼ How is my school district involved with my child's early intervention support?
A ☼ Once a child reaches 3 years of age, your school district assumes responsibility for his or her early intervention support needs, including special assistance or a specialized therapist (for instance, an occupational therapist) to come into the school. Q ☼ I need extra support and don't know where to start looking. Can you help me?
A ☼ Yes! We recommend visiting First 5 South Carolina to see what resources are available to you. If you don't find what you need, we recommend calling Trident United Way's resource hotline 211 to find out about other local resources available to you. |
