Anyone (a parent, doctor, caregiver, teacher, or friend) can make a referral. The earlier a child gets help, the better! Berkeley County Preschool Programs ☼ Berkeley County School District Berkeley County School District offers a number of preschool programs designed to prepare children for elementary education. Books in Every Bag ☼ A SC charity promoting literacy in children from birth to 5 years of age Starting from birth, reading with your child lays the foundation for successful learning, significantly enhancing brain development, vocabulary, and imagination, and preparing them for school. Family Connection of SC ☼ A SC charity promoting awareness & inclusion for children with disabilities This nonprofit offers a place where parents of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers can go to find resources for their child as well as a variety of trainings and workshops for parents and professionals. First 5 South Carolina ☼ A partnership of South Carolina's public services for children age 0-5 Check your young child's eligibility for more than 40 services. From free or low-cost child care care to help buying food for your children, their online search tool has you covered. First Steps 4K ☼ Free pre-K programs for 4-year-olds by South Carolina First Steps First Steps 4K offers free, full-day 4-year-old kindergarten to qualifying children in South Carolina. They partner with more than 270 licensed child care centers and private schools across the state, making it easy for families to find a high-quality program that meets their needs. Helping Hands of Goose Creek ☼ A crisis assistance center and Christian food pantry Helping Hands of Goose Creek is an emergency assistance center and food pantry serving individuals and families who are experiencing a life crisis situation. It is their mission to help these families achieve self-sufficiency regardless of the life crisis event. Palmetto Pre-K ☼ South Carolina's publicly funded preschool programs Palmetto Pre-K is your one-stop shop for finding free educational preschool programs in South Carolina. Their website will help you determine if your child is eligible for free preschool, find a preschool near you, and apply to the preschool. PBS Kids ☼ Free games, videos, songs, and quick lessons for young children From games like Alma on the Case and Vacuum Hockey to online episodes of Lyla in the Loop, Milo the Explorer, and Sesame Street, PBS Kids is where it's at! Plus check out video snippets like the "When You Feel So Mad" song and a 3-minute lesson from beloved character Arthur on why it's okay to feel worried. Storytimes with Berkeley First Steps ☼ Our YouTube storytime channel Young children are invited to join Berkeley First Steps to spend time reading together!
