MEET SAM
Sam joined Berkeley County First Steps in early 2021, and currently focuses on helping to develop the social & emotional learning of children and staff of Berkeley County's child care centers. "This type of work is important because the first five years of children's lives are crucial to their development, their personalities, how they process information, and how they will interact with the world as adults," she says. Sam is trained in both ASQ developmental screenings and healing-centered engagement, and is also certified to teach the Nurturing Parenting Program. Prior to joining Berkeley County First Steps as a full time employee, Sam spent two years as an AmeriCorps member. She holds a bachelor's degree in Spanish with a minor in linguistics, and a bachelor's degree in international studies with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean, both from the College of Charleston. In her spare time, she volunteers at a farm near her home. |
